The Myers Briggs
Type Indicator (MBTI)
The MBTI is based
on more than 50 years of research and development
through th work
of Katherine
Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers who designed
the questionnaire to make
Carl Jung’s theory
of psychological types understandable and
useful in daily life. It describes personality
types based on preferences on four dichotomies,
each consisting of two opposite poles to
arrive at 16 different MBTI types.
The MBTI instrument continues to be the most trusted and widely
used assessment in the world for understanding individual differences
and uncovering new ways to work and interact with others. With more
than 2 million assessments administered annually in the United States
alone, the MBTI is the gold standard in improving individual and
team performance. Begin with the MBTI Form M instrument, which identifies
the four basic type preferences, or Form Q, which provides a more
richly textured picture of type and behavior.

The DISC
The
language of the DISC is based on Dr. William Marston's work. He believed
that one’s environment is either favourable, or unfavourable,
and that this contributes to how one reacts.
His acclaimed book, Emotions of Normal People, explains how needs-driven
behaviour could
be understood as four distinct styles of
behaviour.

The Hermann Brain
Dominance Instrument (HBDI)
The HBDI is the
work of Ned Hermann which he embarked on
in the mid 1970s. He based his instrument
on the Whole Brain Model, explaining that the whole
brain is comprised of four interconnected
clusters of specialized mental processing
modes that function together situation and
international, in which one or more parts
become naturally dominant.
The instrument identifies preferences for these four thinking
modes determined by relative attraction to or aversion for each
family of mental processes.
The HBDI can be used in managing diversity, understanding culture,
motivating teams, whole brain leadership,
leading change, thinking styles, learning
styles, study skills and knowledge management.
